Porsche VIN Decoder

Our research hub for all things Porsche Vehicle Identification Numbers. Your VIN can tell you a lot about your Porsche — decode it here. We cover all chassis numbers from 1948 to 1980 and VIN numbers from the 1981 model year through to today.

1948–1968 / 1968 / 1969 / 1970–1979 / 1980 / 914/4 / 1981–Present EUR/ROW / 1981–Present USA/CAN

Note: The letters O, I and Q are never used in any VIN — they can be confused with the numbers 0 and 1. Many people write WPO at the start of a Porsche VIN, but the correct form is WP0 — that is a zero, not the letter O. From model year 1981 onward, all Porsche VINs are exactly 17 characters long.
