Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly is a Porsche 911 "backdate"?
A backdate is the process of taking a newer, more modern air-cooled 911 (typically a 964 or 993 generation) and modifying its exterior to resemble the classic, chrome-bumpered 911s of the late 1960s and 70s. You get the beautiful vintage aesthetic paired with better handling, modern reliability, and a much more powerful engine.
How long does a Shoreline custom build take?
Because every vehicle is stripped down to bare metal and built by hand to the client's exact specifications, a full custom commission typically takes between 12 to 18 months from the time the donor car is secured to final delivery.
Do I need to provide the donor car?
No, you do not. We can source a high-quality donor car for you through our global network of Porsche specialists. However, if you already own a suitable 964 or 993 generation 911, we are more than happy to evaluate it for the build process.
Can I drive it every day?
Absolutely. While they look like vintage museum pieces, our backdates are engineered for modern drivability. Upgraded modern AC systems, sound dampening, hydraulic clutches, and refined suspensions make them perfectly suited for weekend canyons or daily commutes.
